Time is of the Essence - Planning your Spring Wedding

Monday, March 1, 2010

February certainly lived up to its billing as the shortest month. We have have had an active few months, between wrapping up the Lansing area bridal shows and hosting our First Bridal Brunch & Bouquet.

For those of you planning a wedding for next year, make sure to keep an eye out for inspiration! As the winter begins to fade into spring (we can hope!), look for all of the small details in life which might otherwise go unappreciated. Little things can help you to dream up your theme, such as:
  • Chirping Birds
    • Give personalized bird cages as favors, maybe put some candy inside.
    • Decorate the reception with feathers or decorative bird baths.
    • Pick an invitation that will resonate with the reappearance of birds in the spring
  • Spring Sunlight
    • Think about giving away fun personalized sunglasses as favors.
    • Use bright colors (yellow, orange or even pink) for decoration! Give the event a warm, happy feel.
    • Be sure to pick an invitation that is inviting and reflects the rest of the sunny theme.
  • Tree Buds
    • Pick out a recycled favor! Personalized pens or coasters are always a good choice.
    • Use budding or flowering twigs for decorations to bring the spring environment to your reception.
    • Tree buds may inspire a wedding theme centered around recycled products. Our vendors offer many recycled papers and products to chose from.
  • Gardens
    • Give your guests a small flower pot or plant seeds, a gift that will continue to grow, like your marriage!
    • Create centerpieces with various garden flowers; it will give the reception a comfortable welcoming and outdoors feel.
  • Rain
    • The first rain of spring is always a bit of a breath-stopper. Use mini umbrellas and theme colored candy as favors for your guests. Hopefully they won't have to use the umbrellas though!
    • Shades of light blue will give it a clean, bright feel. Use similar colors for your invitations and Save the Dates.
Ideas are everywhere. As the season begin to change, keep an open mind. Think about how your wedding day will look, and then think about how you would like to send that across in an invitation. Avoid stress and enjoy the process, and when you are ready to move forward, all of us here at RD I Do are ready to help you!
