Especially For Him: Considering the Gift for the Groom

Thursday, June 23, 2011

You probably remember the very first time you met each other; your heart beats faster when the two of you make eye contact. Can you think of anything better than spending the rest of your life with him? It is certainly a true blessing finding your Prince Charming and walk down that aisle together. On that day, you probably want to give him something special to celebrate your union – couples commonly celebrate their wedding with gifts to each other. RD I Do fully understands that. In fact, we are ready here to help you make the wish come true of finding the perfect present for your mister.

Without any doubt, there’s probably little else in this world more important to you than him. But sometimes love can feel too intangible to specify. So you might need something tangible to tell him as a reminder every day, “I love you forever.”

What’s important when selecting your gift for your groom is to ensure it is useful, practical, and meaningful. Ideally it should be something he will use regularly or take with him into a new phase of life (briefcase, fine watches, new grill, all of these are common gift ideas), but there is nothing that stops you from adding a personal touch or engraving to these items. While designing your wedding and arranging your favors, your RD I Do consultant can take care of whatever additions you made need for your husband’s gift. With access to hundreds of vendors and thousands of different items, we can certainly take care of any request you have.

Maybe you want to create your own love logo and print it on the mug he will take to work each day; you could have the monogram logo from your wedding engraved on the back of his watch. You could design a keychain for him that will be with him wherever he goes; or maybe you want to program or design reminders that he can read and sense your appreciation and love every day. Whatever ideas you want to explore or work with, the RD I Do team can assist you.

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "the only true gift is a portion of yourself." Just let RD I Do help you to tell him that “your heart is ever at his service” (William Shakespeare).

Set The Party Tone With Custom Reception Programs!

Monday, June 20, 2011

With “traditional” wedding receptions long-since outdated, each couple (with or without a wedding planner) are beginning to dictate their own reception “schedules.” This is a perfect way to continue your theme and wedding brand into the hands of your guests! What better way to keep them in the know than to place a custom designed and personalized wedding reception program on each table? It helps the guests relax, knowing what events will happen and when and also allows you the opportunity to seek new ways to work your personality into the wedding details!

Creativity knows no bounds with this modern wedding staple. If nature lends itself to the theme of your big day, why stop with decorative branches or flowers on printed paper? You could emboss your wedding program and adhere it to your birch tree centerpieces! Another popular choice is to emulate vintage Broadway playbills (with a photo you’ve chosen, of course, as the cover image) with the reception events laid out like scenes and acts from a play. The purpose of customizing programs (and custom wedding touches, in general) is not to simply repeat the same monogram or color patterns on everything that sits still. It is to infuse the wedding experience, theme, and romance into as many details as possible; giving you your dream day and your guests a wedding to talk about for years after!

Take the time to search and peruse the options out there and incorporate those ideas into your theme and style! Our consultants at RD I Do would be happy to work with you on the design of your reception programs. Our design team and consultants will work one-on-one with you to ensure even the smallest details are perfected for your day.

Write A Visual Love Story: Digital Slideshows

Wednesday, June 15, 2011

The moment you felt that first spark of chemistry, you knew that the two of you had something special. As your relationship blossomed, you began to invest your heart and soul and now an incredible love story. There may be an occasional storm, but the two of you conquer these obstacles. Your wedding is a perfect time to display your love and devotion to each other as well as your family and friends.

On that special day, you can visually summarize the journey of your love with a digital slide show of your best candid photos instead of a wordy narration or multiple speeches. The dozens of photos you two have captured during your time together can speak for themselvess. Imagine how beautiful those snapshots can be to share with yours guests; bringing you all back to the very first time you met; the first romantic date he took you out on; or the days you spent completely together, exploring or vacationing.

The images serve to enliven the love that is all around you. Without any doubts, your guests have each witnessed every step you have walked together. So instead of locking them down in files on your computer, it might be a better idea to take those recollections out and write him a visual love letter on your big day. At RD I Do, we are here to help you not only recapture your past together, but help you create a future together.

Creating Well-Wishes In New Ways: Customized Guestbooks

Monday, June 13, 2011

At most wedding receptions, guest are handed a pen and asked to sign the guestbook upon entering. Sometimes they simply leave a signature or quick sentence of well wishes, other times they manage to jot down a note or two in that small allotted space. Alternatives to traditional guest books are becoming a trendy way to include your guests into true well-wishes of happiness as a couple.

For the more traditional couples and weddings, you could ask your photographer about opportunities for a photo guestbook containing shots from your engagement session. Another way to add to this traditional idea is to ask for more than just a signature; include questions like “remind us why we’re perfect for each other,” “how can we keep the spark alive?” and “what’s the best advice piece of advice you have for us?” These questions can be personalized or are available in pre-composed arrangements to choose from. RD I Do specializes in this type of custom guestbook, and we have in-house photographers to help with the perfect shots you envision!

For those of you looking to think outside of the box with memories of the guests at your wedding, creativity is coming forward in all sorts of ways with the current trends. Photo guest books are becoming popular; only instead of it being photos of the bride and groom, guests get their photos taken digitally (with a photographer or with a photo booth) and inserted into the space in the guestbook beside their signature.

Another fantastic and quirky idea is to ask your guests to help build a piece of art for your new home. From thumbprint leaves on a hand-drawn tree to collages of well-wishes written upon antique paper, couples are starting to involve each guest in the start of their future together. Doing so creates not only creates an activity for people to participate in, but also provides a permanent display of the love surrounding the couple on the Big Day. Your consultant at RD I Do is a wedding expert – you certainly want a guestbook to fit the theme and feel of the wedding. Talk to them about it today!

Invites 2.0: New Options with Rehearsal Dinner Invitations

Wednesday, June 8, 2011

The plans are finalized and the wedding is only weeks away. Your schedule is now filled with fittings and last minute arrangements; you've barely put any thought into your rehearsal dinner. It is often viewed as as secondary to the other wedding plans, but it is truly an emotional and important event in the wedding process. The rehearsal dinner is a time to relax with your closest friends and family involved in the wedding. Before the hectic and fast-paced Big Day, the few hours of wedding rehearsal and the celebration following is an excellent venue for the bride and groom to express appreciation in an intimate atmosphere, and it starts with the invitation.

Traditional etiquette suggests that rehearsal dinner invitations should be received by guests one month prior to the date so they may properly plan. The guest list often includes the bridal party, parents, the officiant, and participants of the ceremony which can allow room for for creative and customized announcements. Many are available for DIY printing from popular websites, but many brides are taking the extra time to wield some creativity. Make sure to toss in a few special touches – whether small details or a complete custom overhaul – to show guests how thankful you are for their participation in your special day.

The invitations don’t need to be traditional. RD I Do has access to wine bottle wrap invitations, boxed invitations, musical invitations; almost anything you can come up with we can make happen. These invitations don't have to follow the same look and pattern as your formal invitations, either. Take the time to impart touches of personality. If you’re looking to include rehearsal dinner invitations that are custom designed, one-of-a-kind, and like no others’, we can do that for you, too. Be sure to ask about our prices and promotional packages, too!

Welcome Them With Flair: Custom Gift Baskets

Monday, June 6, 2011

Welcome baskets are often used to greet out-of-town guests upon their arrival at the hotel. This gift basket is often contains information about rehearsal dinners, wedding plans, locations, activity details. They also serve as an opportunity to showcase the personality of the couple and theme of the wedding. These baskets can be filled with standard or traditional items, but you can also customize the bags, baskets, or bins with expertly designed monograms, messages, or decorative details. You can get some cleaver ideas for welcome baskets courtesy of realsimple.com:
  • A handsome tin of tea in an inexpensive teacup and saucer and a handwritten note are thoughtful during the chilly months
  • A small gift bag filled with items that represent highlights of the couple’s courtship. For example, one New York City bride marrying a Brit tucked an apple, Wrigleys gum, water, and nuts into a bag with a key describing what each item represented: A body of water had separated them for decades, until they met in the Big Apple and realized they were nuts about each other. They wed in Chicago, home of Wrigley Field.
  • On a similar note, turn the welcome-basket into a fun activity and challenge guests to identify the significance of the items in the box. You can even throw in a personalized couple-themed crossword puzzle for guests who might have plenty of pre-wedding downtime (or a long flight back home).
  • Gift certificates to a local theater or the movies if there are no wedding-related events planned for the evenings before the wedding
  • You may not be getting hitched in Vegas, but why not create a “We’re so LUCKY to have you here” package that includes a lottery ticket? Or replace the word “LUCKY” with “FORTUNATE” and include a few fortune cookies in a plastic takeout box that reflects your color scheme before the wedding.
  • Local or seasonal produce (apples in MI, oranges in the south, etc.) for easy snacking between wedding events

The opportunities are as endless and unique as you are as a couple. Come see us a Rizzi Designs, our consultants at RD I Do will help shape your welcome baskets, starting with the stationary the welcome greeting is printed on to the perfect packaging and presentation. Let us help you welcome your amazing guests with pizzazz and chic style.
